Swimming Biomechanics: Interactive Learning Laboratory

Foundations, stroke mechanics, starts and turns, injury mechanisms and biomechanical assessment — taught with visible evidence tiers and an honest verification status on every number. First working version; some modules are first-pass and marked as expanding.

How evidence is labelled here

T1 Direct evidence — reported in a cited source.

T2 Supported synthesis — built from several T1 findings.

T3 Clinical recommendation — a consideration, not tested efficacy.

T4 Teaching interpretation — frameworks and teaching thresholds.

Scientific-integrity notice

This resource reproduces the coverage of the project's M01–M18 extractions. It does not reproduce their self-reported "scientifically verified" percentages as proof of accuracy.

Curriculum scope (NCAHP 2025): this resource is enrichment for clause STT 2.13.iv “Water sports” and related biomechanics, injury and prevention clauses. It makes no claim of full syllabus coverage or zero gaps.

Flagged values are not taught as fact. The 37–42° breaststroke window, 50–91% shoulder prevalence, subacromial millimetres, ER:IR ratios and the L5/S1 odds ratio are shown as pending/flagged, with a visible label, per the source-recovery audit.

Original AI-generated images are preserved; two had a "Gemini Notebook" tag removed on working copies. See Visuals & correction register.

How to learn with this laboratory on your own

1 · Start anywhereEach module stands alone. Beginners: Foundations → Strokes. Clinicians: Injuries, Assessment lab, Cases.
2 · Use the Concept ExplainersBlue ⓘ Concept boxes explain ideas in plain language. Dotted-underlined terms and blue chips open the same explanation.
3 · Read the labelsEvery claim carries a tier (T1–T4); every number a verification status. Superscript numbers jump to the reference.
4 · Turn explainers offExperienced users can hide the inline boxes with Explainers in the top bar; underlined terms still work. Light/Dark switches the theme.

Learning objectives

    Modules

Progress is stored only in this browser.
    Foundations

    Foundations of swimming biomechanics

Fluid properties, drag, propulsion and hydrostatics — explained in plain language first, with every number in its source unit and verification status.

    Strokes

    Stroke biomechanics explorer

The four competitive strokes: movement phases, propulsion sources and key kinematics from the cited sources. Select a stroke.

    Phases

    Starts, turns & underwater phases

Biomechanical principles are separated from governing-body rules, which change between editions.

    Clinical

    Functional anatomy & swimming injuries

Each topic separates established anatomy, proposed mechanisms and reported associations. A biomechanical feature alone does not prove a cause.

    Clinical · methods

    Biomechanical assessment laboratory

What each documented method measures, how it is done, what you can reasonably conclude and its limits. No equipment specifications, accuracy figures or normative thresholds are invented.

Selected values — in source units, with status

Filter the values. Flagged values appear highlighted and are never presented as established facts.

    Clinical & performance cases

Structured teaching cases with decision points and explained feedback. All cases are clearly labelled educational, not real patient data.

    Assess

    Assessment centre

Items derived from the approved sources. Values that could not be page-checked are tested with their source named and flagged.

    Evidence · original assets

    Original visuals & correction register

All registered images: the twelve module images, plus the Hydrodynamic Drag Assessment set — seven editable SVG schematics drawn for this lab, led by the corrected MAD schematic, and four method-overview infographics (AI-generated, shown unmodified with their correction records). (A supplied MAD photograph and its annotated derivative are held back until their reuse rights are confirmed.) Base images are shown unmodified; two AI infographics had only their "Gemini Notebook" tag removed (working copies), with the byte-for-byte originals preserved and hashed. Embedded numbers in the knee and shoulder infographics are reference only and itemised in the correction records.

Preserved does not mean correct. AI-generated images can contain spelling and numerical errors. Read each one with its correction records beside it; flagged numbers are not taught as fact.

The cited textbook repository, the project's unresolved verification items, and the claims deliberately excluded. Bibliographic details follow the sources; nothing is fabricated, and incomplete details are marked pending.

          Evidence-tier definitions

          • T1 Direct evidence — reported in a cited primary source.
          • T2 Supported synthesis — an interpretation built from several T1 findings.
          • T3 Clinical recommendation — a consideration; it does not imply tested efficacy.
          • T4 Teaching interpretation — frameworks and teaching thresholds, not validated instruments.
